Musee Cluny and yet another lovely long walk

Outside Musee Cluny
Today we decided to visit Musee Cluny - a medieval museum in the 5th (Latin Quarter). After checking the map we realised it was just as quick to walk - down to the Seine, past Notre Dame, and up rue St Michele, past la Sorbonne and we were there. Gorgeous ancient building. Audio guides were a real help, and we wandered for a few hours. Amelia was fascinated, Paul was very interested, I loved some of it, played tag-a-long for the rest. Still great to spend the day together, sharing opinions on the different displays. Managed to take quite a few photos!
Lunch venue, scrummy!!!!
Stopped for lunch around 2 at a very nice café. Really relaxed fun time. The French have the right idea about doing family over meals.
Left after 3, and decided to catch the train to Musee d'Orsay.

Old fashioned Metro station outside our café.
It was the RER rather than the Metro. RER starts further out of Paris and goes further - it's the train to, for example, the airport or Versailles. If using it in Paris only, you can use your Metro tickets, otherwise you need to buy a separate one. We were staying within Paris, so already had Metro tickets. When you leave the RER, unlike the Metro, you need to re-swipe your ticket.
Which is fine, except when we got on I didn't realise I would need it again, and added it to the 20 or so that I have used since arriving and am collecting to take home. So at the exit gate I stood trying ticket after ticket in the slot until the correct one finally worked! Fortunately it wasn't busy!

After all that we arrived at Musee d'Orsay to find it shut on Mondays!

Took a lovely long walk home along the Seine - sun was shining, breeze shifting the autumn leaves on the cobbled sidewalks. Pretty cold, but invigorating. Stopped again for coffee and hot choc. Home via Monoprix around 6. Lovely day!
