Paris as a family

Today was a family day, and soooo good! First up Mel had coffee with a friend; Ali and Paul and I shopped for food for a big lunch/dinner. Managed to carry on conversation entirely in French at the Boucherie (butcher's), but must admit they were all laughing with (at?) me by the time I left. Fun!
Home to marinate the chicken, then off for a walk down to the Louvre. Free entry for Ali and Amelia as they have Irish passports and are under 25, they went in with Mel; Paul and I found a nice café for an hour. I managed to trip down the stairs, must be my day for making people laugh.
Amelia and I offered to Metro home and start lunch, the others wanted to walk. Sounds good - of course Amelia and I were side-tracked by one of our favourite shops..... she found a gorgeous dress which she bought for her dinner tomorrow night. We hurried home, half way up the stairs we heard the others come in behind us, so sped in, threw off our coats, threw on the oven, and tried to pretend we had been home for hours. Didn't work - Mel had smelt my perfume on the stairs! How bizaar is that?!
Did mustard chicken in leeks and wine with roast veges and sautéed asparagus. Ate around 3pm - was lovely!
Place des Vosges
So full! Went for another long walk - took the newbies down to Place des Vosges, through Hotel Sully, down to explore Village St Paul, over the Seine to Ile de la Cite where we stopped for hot choc and café. By then it was getting dark, so meandered back through the Jewish Quarter, a really interesting experience.
Back home for some wine, cheese, baguettes and family round-the-table games, then stories, scraps, setting up the spare beds, and Mel and Ali headed off to meet Dave.
Another brilliant day!
