Walking, walking and more walking!

Oven dials - a real challenge!
Today Paul wanted to visit Musee Carnavalet where there is a good exhibition of French Revolution memorabilia. I have been twice, so he went with Amelia. They had a great time, and it was so nice for me, for the first time, to have some alone space! I drank coffee, read my kindle, did some laundry, and prepared a hearty Sunday dinner with roast veges and the beautiful fillet steak we bought yesterday. The oven was another new experience - I turned it on and waited for it to heat, went back and found I had put the light and fan on, oven was till stone cold! Dinner went down very well with a glass of red wine, the meat just fell apart, excellent quality, and (for a treat) well worth the 37.95 euro per kg.

Paul outside one wing of the Louvre

After dinner Amelia wanted a rest so Paul and I walked down to the Louvre - about 2km. Entry is free on the first Sunday of the month, so along with every other tourist in Paris we queued for Paul to see the Mona Lisa. Always worth a visit, and we saw lots of other areas before deciding the crowds were too much, so left and walked home along the Seine, stopping for coffee on the way.

Saw a wonderful drainpipe - the French have such style even in functional things!

Home for a brief sit down, then out again, all 3 of us, to do the Sunday evening family stroll thing along with Paris locals - a totally different crowd than the touristy Louvre scene. Nice to be out on a winter evening, crisp air, wrapped up warmly, and a good way to fill in some of the evening.

Entertainment at home is mainly the BBC news, which is very negative - news from Bangkok is disturbing as Ali flies there tomorrow.
A light tea of boiled eggs - another great day, they're coming to a close with the family beginning to arrive this week. We've really made the most of our time so far.
